HEAT INDEX POLICYBlue Thunder Football & Cheerleading will use the following to determine the heat index practice policy:
•In cases of excessive heat, heat index will be checked (using current weather readings for zip code 54013 provided by www.weather.com) at 4:30PM on the day of scheduled practice. •Results will be communicated via e-mail, Facebook, and the Blue Thunder website. •Text alerts will only be used in the event that practice is cancelled. The official policy, where no alterations or exceptions will be made is as follows: Heat Index less than 95 Degrees: •10 minute water breaks every 30 minutes •Monitor athletes as needed Heat Index 95-99 Degrees: •Helmet & Mouthguard only •10 minute water breaks every 25 minutes •Monitor athletes as needed Heat Index 100-104 Degrees •No helmets or pads •Shirts and shorts only •10 minute water breaks every 20 minutes •Provide ice down towels for cooling •Monitor athletes as needed Heat Index above 104 Degrees: •No practice- no exceptions As always, parents have the final say on whether your athlete participates. If you feel it is unsafe outside, you are permitted to withhold your athlete with no consequence. We only asks that you please notify your coaches or a board member of your decision. |
